The Steele County Veteran's Services Office is here to assist Veterans, their families, surviving spouses, and dependent children in Steele County. Every year the rules and regulations governing veterans' benefits become more complex and intimidating. We can advise these individuals of the benefits they may be eligible for in the form of Federal Veterans Benefits and State of Minnesota Veterans Benefits, we will complete the forms necessary to obtain these benefits, assist in obtaining the documentation necessary to support a claim for benefits, make certain the benefits the individual is entitled to are awarded and assist the individual to continue receiving the benefit once it has been awarded.
Some of the more common benefits available to veterans and their survivors are:
- Compensation for service incurred disabilities
- Pensions
- Education
- VA Health Care
- Death Benefits
- Transportation to and from the Minneapolis VA Hospital (non-emergency only)
There is a myriad of other federal veterans' benefits that a veteran or his survivors could potentially be eligible to receive. Also, there are State of Minnesota benefits such as emergency financial and medical assistance for needy, disabled veterans and their families, and a war orphans' educational assistance program.
