Statewide Health Improvement Partnership
The Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) creates wellness across Minnesota’s communities through community-driven, evidence-based, and equity-focused programs that tackle the root causes of chronic diseases. Through technical assistance and community partner awards, local SHIP staff support community initiatives that promote Policy, Systems, and Environmental (PSE) changes that enhance Healthy Eating, Active Living, Commercial Tobacco-Free Spaces, and Mental Well-Being in Schools, Childcares, Workplaces, Healthcare settings, and the Community as a whole.
Non-Profit Community Partner Awards
The Steele County Non-Profit Community Partner Awards, funded by the Steele County Appropriations Fund, support local 501(c)(3) nonprofits that provide essential health and human services to Steele County residents. These awards are granted annually for one-year terms as contracts between the County and nonprofits to deliver programs and/or services that address key priorities in the most recent Dodge-Steele Community Health Improvement Plan.
Opioid Response Initiative Grant
Over the next 18 years, Steele County is expected to receive approximately $1.5 million from historic multi-state settlement agreements with pharmaceutical entities to support ongoing efforts in addressing the opioid epidemic. The Steele County Opioid Response Initiative Grant intends to identify qualified organizations to respond to the opioid crisis through opioid epidemic response strategies, including prevention, treatment and recovery, harm reduction, and criminal justice.
Local Homeless Prevention Aid (LHPA)
Local Homeless Prevention Aid (LHPA) was created by the 2021 Minnesota Legislature to help local governments ensure no child is homeless within a local jurisdiction by keeping families from losing housing and helping those experiencing homelessness find housing. The Steele County Board of Commissioners has approved this aid to be awarded to community-based nonprofit organizations serving Steele County residents to fund eligible projects/programs that meet the criteria for this aid, pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 477A.30.
