Properties for Sale - Tax Forfeited

Property becomes tax-forfeited land due to unpaid delinquent property taxes.

Any tax balance not paid by January 1 of the year following when the taxes were due becomes delinquent.  You have either 1 or 3 years to pay the delinquent balance owed to keep ownership.  The timeframe depends on the property’s classification.  If taxes aren't paid in the required timeframe, the property becomes tax-forfeited land.

Information about buying tax-forfeited land can be obtained under the listing "Terms of Sale - Tax Forfeited Properties" or stop in at the PT&E Office, Steele County Administration Center, 630 Florence Avenue, Owatonna, MN  55060 or call.
