Responsibilities

The County Administrator serves as the administrative head of Steele County and reports directly to the Board of Commissioners. Acting as the primary liaison between the Board and county staff, the Administrator ensures effective communication, coordination, and execution of the Board’s directives. The Administrator provides overall management and direction for county operations, ensuring that all departments function efficiently and in alignment with county goals, carries out all decisions, policies, ordinances, and resolutions adopted by the Board of Commissioners, serves as the central link between the Board and county staff, facilitating clear communication, timely follow‑through, and organizational alignment, and oversees countywide public information efforts, ensuring accurate, transparent, and accessible communication with residents and stakeholders.

Strategic Leadership & Policy Development

  • Develops and advances policy, program, and project initiatives that support the county’s strategic direction.
  • Ensures the mission of Steele County is carried out by effectively providing services that protect the health, safety, and general welfare of the public.
  • Identifies and prepares agenda topics for consideration by the Board of Commissioners.

Fiscal Stewardship & Budget Management

  • Guides and assists in the preparation of the annual county budget.
  • Promotes responsible fiscal management and safeguards the long‑term viability of taxpayer dollars.
  • Supports a realistic long‑term vision that aligns financial planning with community needs.

Organizational Leadership & Oversight

  • Supervises appointed department heads and provides direction to ensure effective and efficient operations.
