What is the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act?
The Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (MGDPA), Minn. Stat. § 13, is a state law that governs how government data are collected, created, maintained, used, and released. The MGDPA establishes requirements for public access to government data and outlines the rights of individuals who are the subjects of that data.

Note: Minn. Stat. § 13.03, subd. 3(g) allows a responsible authority to suspend any further responses to a data request if a requester does not inspect or collect copies of data within five business days after being notified that the data are available.
