Tuberculosis (TB) Screening
A Tuberculin Skin Test (TST), also known as a Mantoux test, checks for exposure to tuberculosis (TB). During the test, a small amount of tuberculin solution is injected just under the skin of your forearm, creating a small bump. Your body’s reaction to this injection helps determine whether you may have been infected with TB bacteria. The test must be read 48–72 hours later to measure the size of the reaction and determine the result, meaning you have to return to Public Health within 48-72 hours of your initial visit.
Tuberculin Skin Tests (TSTs) are available by appointment on most Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, excluding holidays. TSTs are not offered on Thursdays or on a Friday preceding a Monday holiday.
