More than one billion people worldwide are immigrants, refugees, or migrants. These individuals move from one place to another. As new community members arrive, Public Health works to support their health, safety, and successful resettlement.
Our Public Health staff partner closely with resettlement agency caseworkers and primary care providers to ensure newly arrived refugees receive a comprehensive health screening and appropriate follow‑up care. These screenings help identify health concerns early, connect individuals to necessary medical and social services, and protect the broader community by detecting and treating communicable diseases.
