The Steele County Landfill is owned and operated by Steele County
Located along Hwy 218 between Owatonna and Blooming Prairie, the landfill accepts various types of waste.
Accepted Waste:
The landfill accepts mixed solid waste, industrial waste, demolition debris and asbestos containing material for disposal from Steele County only.
Other Accepted Items:
For various fees, the landfill also accepts appliances, electronics (computers, TVs, DVD players, VCRs), tires, and clean concrete/bituminous for recycling.
Recycling:
The landfill has a recycling station where people may recycle numerous types of papers, cans and bottles and a tank where Steele County residents may recycle used motor oil and used oil filters free of charge.
Household Hazardous Waste:
The landfill has a household hazardous waste facility which accepts household hazardous waste for disposal free of charge for Steele County Residents. Open May through September: Thursdays - Hours: 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. & the First and Third Saturdays of the month - Hours 9:00 a.m. - noon.
